Aussie Skate

What is Aussie Skate?
Aussie Skate is the nationally accredited, learn-to-skate program, designed for beginners of all ages.
When you sign up for Aussie Skate, you will be learning in a program that focuses on fun, participation and basic skill development. You will earn badges and other incentives as you learn fundamental skating skills.
Lessons are given in a group format and led by a certified professional coach. Skaters progress at their own rate and coaches make sessions lively using a wide variety of activities that create a fun environment and promote learning. Aussie Skate forms a direct pathway for skaters into the competitive field, from Aussie Skate Competitions, to Club Events to National Championships.

Aussie Skate Tests
Tests are conducted on the first Thursday of the month (except for January) from 5:45pm to 6:45pm at the Phillip Swimming and Ice Skating Centre. Check the Calendar tab of the website to stay up to date with any last minute changes, as well as social media channels such as Instagram and Facebook.
Skaters must have their coaches permission to undertake a test. Aussie Skate tests are conducted on a first come first served basis. A list is kept in the Coaches Room at the Rink. Please find the Aussie Skate Membership Form at the bottom of this page.
There a variety of tests ranging from Tots (6yr & under), through introductory tests providing a basic core for all skaters, and then the Free Skate tests. Each test is made up of multiple elements, and each element will be assessed on a basis of proficiency. Completion of a level will allow a skater to move onto the next level of testing, as well as skaters earning a badge to make their achievement. These tests provide a prerequisite for skaters wishing to participate in the Aussie Skate Competitions and later in the ISA testing program.
To give as many individual skaters a chance to do tests we can only guarantee two tests per skater during each testing session. Skaters requesting more than two tests will be given a chance to do more tests only if there is time remaining once other skaters have had the chance to do their 1-2 tests.
For more information and test dates please check the ACTISA noticeboard at the skate hire end of the rink and the Calendar page on the website.
