It is with great sadness that we learned of Reg Park’s passing.

Reg will be missed by all that knew him, he was a tremendous person, coach, friend and family member in our skating community, and will always be remembered for his passion of this sport we all love. We all gained a lifelong friend and mentor.

Reg achieved so much throughout his skating career as a national and international champion, and a national and international coach. He was always an integral part of the Canberra skating community, right from the beginning when he started coaching at the Phillip Swimming and Ice Skating Centre in 1981. Reg brought his passion of figure skating to a community that loved him and looked up to him, along with his skills and knowledge, love of figures/edges, and his artistic collaborations and vibrant shows. For all of his contributions to figure skating in the ACT Reg was made a Life Member of the ACT Ice Skating Association (ACTISA) in 2007. Reg was also inducted into the ACT Sports Hall of Fame in 2012.

ACTISA’s Reg Park Artistic Trophy (RPA) competition commenced in 1999 as a tribute to Reg and all of his achievements. He participated every year until 2013-14 and loved awarding the main trophy named in his honour. The RPA will continue as a memorial to him well into ACTISA’s future.

A celebration of Reg’s life will be held on Sunday 13th October 2019 at 10:00am at the Tootsie Gallery Cafe, 289 Comur Street Yass. Please bring a plate of food to share. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Flossie’s Kitten Rescue, Canberra. Thank you to Michaela for organising this celebration.
